Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, or Mandala Suci Wenara Wana, is a nature reserve and temple complex in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. It is home to more than 1,200 Balinese long-tailed macaques and three historic Hindu temples, making it one of Bali’s most symbolic spiritual and ecological destinations. The sanctuary embodies the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—harmony among people, nature, and the divine.

Visitor experience
Well-maintained stone paths lead through moss-covered temples, wooden bridges, and shaded ravines such as the photogenic Dragon Bridge. Interpretive signage and trained staff guide respectful interaction. The site offers restrooms, cafés, souvenir stalls, and first-aid facilities. Early morning visits (8–10 AM) provide cooler weather, fewer crowds, and more active monkeys.
