Tanah Lot Temple
Tanah Lot Temple, or Pura Tanah Lot, is a revered 16th-century sea temple situated on a rocky outcrop off Bali’s southwestern coast near Beraban village, Tabanan. Known for its dramatic oceanfront setting, it stands as one of seven coastal temples built to honor the sea gods and protect the island from evil spirits. Its silhouette at sunset has become one of Bali’s most iconic images.

Visiting and conservation
Visitors enjoy panoramic views, markets, and coastal restaurants, especially at sunset between 4:30 and 6:30 PM. Restoration projects since the 1980s—partly supported by the Japanese government and UNESCO—have reinforced the rock to prevent erosion, ensuring the temple’s survival for future generations.
