Kamakhya Temple
The Kamakhya Temple, located atop Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, is one of India’s most revered centers of Shaktism. Dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya, it is among the 51 Shakti Peethas and symbolizes feminine power, fertility, and creation. Known for its Tantric rituals and annual Ambubachi Mela, it stands as a fusion of mythology, spirituality, and architecture.

Visiting Information
The temple is open roughly from 5:30 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. It is about 20 km from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and 7–8 km from Guwahati Railway Station. Photography is prohibited inside the inner sanctum, and modest attire is expected. The site offers panoramic views of the Brahmaputra River and remains a vital pilgrimage and cultural landmark of Northeast India.
